At Butterflies Academy, our preschool curriculum meets and exceeds the standards outlined in the California Early Childhood Curriculum Framework.
We believe that early education is an exciting journey of discovery, full of wonder, curiosity, and joy. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to provide a rich learning experience that supports your child’s development across all domains--cognitive, emotional, physical, and social.
Children engage in hands-on, meaningful activities that make learning fun and purposeful. Our program blends academics with play to nurture each child’s unique potential and love for learning.
Enrichment activities such as Yoga, Music, Sports, and Creative Arts are offered at no additional cost, enriching the daily experience and supporting holistic development.

PHILOSOPHY

Butterflies Academy follows a play-based, emergent curriculum grounded in the belief that children learn best through exploration and meaningful experiences.
Our educational approach draws inspiration from respected theorists and philosophies, including:

• Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and John Dewey
• Maria Montessori and Loris Malaguzzi (Reggio Emilia)
• High Scope, Waldorf, and Project-Based Learning

Early Learning Areas

Our curriculum incorporates California and national Kindergarten readiness standards, and includes:

• Language & Literacy: Vocabulary building, storytelling, letter sounds, phonetics, and reading readiness
• Math & Logic: Number recognition, counting, spatial concepts, patterns, and problem-solving
• Science & Nature: Exploration of the natural world, sensory experiences, basic scientific inquiry
• Creative Arts: Drawing, painting, music, clay work, movement, and free artistic expression
• Practical Life Skills: Self-care, environmental responsibility, and everyday life experiences
• Gross & Fine Motor Development: Outdoor play, hand-eye coordination, muscle control activities

Our Learning Environment

Our classrooms are designed to offer a balance of child-led and teacher-guided experiences. Through play, exploration, and intentional teaching, children build:

Each week is filled with activities like yoga, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, storytelling, reading poetry, building, experimenting, and so much more.
